AdvancedHMI Software

I have a 399verX project I am doing, adding a second control panel with a 5/05 to an existing line with a 5/05 using Ethernet now.
The 5/05 shows in RSLinx-lite ETH driver, but is not EthernetIP so it won't show in that drivers list.
I have not been able to get the HMI to talk to it either using the EthernetIPforSLCMicroCom driver.
Is there a change to this driver, or another driver, that can talk to this older SLC?
Both PLC's are: SLC5/05, 1747-L552 Series A Proc Rev 1 OS500 Ser A FRN 1

This sounds like the early generation processor that only supported the CSP protocol which was the precursor to Ethernet/IP. There are so few of these out there that a driver for AdvancedHMI has never been written for the CSP protocol.
Many years ago I had written a driver for CSP, but it was never adapted to work with AdvancedHMI. You can find that driver here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/abethernet/
Maybe an option is to find a firmware upgrade for that processor.

Archie,
Thanks.
I installed it, but don't see how to add it to AHMI, or point to it. Is this just a stand-alone program?
I don't have a firmware update for the 5/05's and can't afford to buy one for this project - it's a budget update for a good customer so I quoted a discount price.

It is just a stand-alone application that was not made for AdvancedHMI. You may be able to add the diver files to the AdvancedHMI solution, then use code to access the driver, but it won't integrate in with the AdvancedHMI controls.

Archie,
I started searching Ebay for firmware revisions, and then called Rockwell & my distributor, as there are a few different revision levels.
Rockwell only wanted to say that all 5/05's are ethernet capable, with no specific's of which versions are Eth-IP capable. The distributor says a firmware upgrade won't change the Ethernet port, and it would require an add-on card.
Would you know the minimum revision of a 5/05 to use with Eth-IP? On Ebay they start at about $150 which I could get.
-
I am unsure what version they added the Ethernet/IP capability. I would guess that it should not have required any hardware changes, only the firmware.

I just d/l firmware for 1747-L551 L552, L553. Why dont you try update its firmware.

Bachphi,
I just downloaded the firmware update v 13, but it requires the ControlFLASH software, so I am going to buy one of the Ebay packages and hope it works.
I also asked this on PLCS.net and got some info that some of the older 5/05's had smaller RAM that won't handle the new firmware update - hope that's not the ones I have here. Also some older CPU's can only go up to ver 11
Archie,
I looked through my other projects using AHMIZ with a 5/05 and the oldest one I found was a series B FRN 4 with OS501 Series C FRN 4, hopefully the series A's will take it

Isn't ControlFlash a free download from AB?
-
Archie,
The version of ControlFLASH I found for free download was only for the ControlLogix family.
I am searching through a few pages on their download site for a SLC version.
-
Isn't all of this reason to not use a SLC and upgrade?
-
I just redownload using my home laptop, it IS CONTROL FLASH, no need 5000 whatsoever.

Bachphi,
When I downloaded the 5/05 update I thought it was just a package for the ControlFlash software. When I searched for ControlFlash itself the only version that I found was for ControlLogix (ver 15)
I found out that the 5/05 package is the ControlFlash program, and it has multiple versions in it. When I connected to one of the 5/05's it showed it was going to update to FRN 11, not 13. But I was doing this over TeamViewer to my office computer from home and it would not install the update as the PLC was 'not ready'
When I get to the office this morning I have to move the Protect jumper.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, it is correct that it is named FRN 11 and not 13.
Here is the good news for you:
I have a SLC5/05, 1747-L552 Series A Proc Rev 1 OS500 Ser A FRN 1 updated to FRN 11 and it worked fine with AAHMI.

I got the 5/05 to take the firmware upgrade, it took about 10 tries before it was successful though.
The HMI does see it now and is working properly. I have been bench testing all the objects and displays on all the screens.
I am thinking that when everything is tested I will program this 5/05 as an upgraded replacement for the line in use and swap it out quickly. Then have time to update the other one for the add-on panel.
Thanks for the help.

I am glad it's working out for you. Not sure who your local distributor is , but they seemed to have no clue.
