Really super nice , great layout. This kind of stuff really showcases ADVHMI very well - took a ton of time too I imagine.

Application Showcase / MY PERSONAL HOME HMI
« on: April 05, 2025, 01:58:58 PM »
My guess is that most of you will look at this and see what appears to you as a disorganized mess with too much on one screen. This it what happens when you slowly build and add on to a project over time.
It certainly can use some re-arranging which I am slowly working on but my HMI screen is a 27" monitor so I can get a lot on one screen and I actually prefer having everything visible as opposed to having to click on a control to bring up another screen. I will be upgrading the monitor to 34" so that will allow me to spread things out and group them better.
I have been working on this slowly as a hobby for several years. I just started adding the generator section which monitors our Kohler 26KW generator. It will actually get it's own HMI at some point but be using the same PLC in it's own file. So far I have 25 separate ladder files in the PLC.

Anyway.. this serves our purpose for many things including monitoring our propane usage and percent left as well as predicting when we will need to get a re-fill. Beats walking out to the propane tank in nasty weather.

Support Questions / Re: Monitoring PLC I/O

Thanks for clearing that up Archie.
I just put a bit file address in parallel in the logic or turn on a bit with an input address such as B3:1/1 and monitor it. Works for me. Nice to know I haven't lost all of my mind yet.

Support Questions / Monitoring PLC I/O
« on: April 05, 2025, 12:55:41 PM »
I posed this question in some form a few years ago and never got an answer.
Trying to monitor the in put and out put data table bits in a PLC 5/20E with any type of Advanced HMI indicator lights does not work. I have to also turn on a bit from a bit file when the real world input or output bit is energized and use that for the HMI indicator light
the
Does anyone else experience this? Anyone have an answer as to why I cannot assign an address from output or input image table to an Advanced HMI light?

Support Questions / Re: File Could not be found
« on: April 04, 2025, 08:20:20 AM »
I know where the file is. It is used in the project but in a different location then where that instance was looking for it. I decided to see if I could make it work by deleting that instance of it from the project, after removing it, I rebuilt the project and that took care of the issue. All is well now.  Thanks for responding.

I do not see any. The highlighted file in the image has property values pointing to the incorrect path. If I put the file in the path it is looking for it brings back more errors. The file location it is looking for is on a Synology NAS where I had previously stored the ADVHMI files, I had since created another share and moved all the files to the share but this instance I am dealing with is on the local PC "C" drive  I had copied the built instance to a local drive so perhaps this caused this. It is strange because I have been copying instances of the built solution to other PCs with no issues.

Support Questions / File Could not be found
« on: April 02, 2025, 10:41:26 PM »
When attempting to build a modified solution I started getting this error:
Error    BC2001    file '\\Snas1\SCADA\SOFTWARE\ADVANCED_HMI1\PurchasedControls\ChartWithLogging_Update\ChartWithLogging.vb' could not be found
It should not be looking for it that location.
What file can I edit to fix this and where is it?
Thank you!

Support Questions / Re: Invalid SLC/Micro Address for button

For some reason I am not having that issue anymore but...
Have you seen this.Pilot light set to turn on with PLC output address, such as O:005/14 the HMI light will not turn on.
I remember when I was developing a SCADA a few years back that I had to put a bit file address in parallel with every physical output I wanted an HMI pilot for. Using an AB PLC5/20 E. That was BETA 33
I am developing another SCADA using 40 and I am having the same issue.

It is a MicroLogix 1400.
Did you actually use the address B15/240 or B3/240?
B3:15/0

bachphi the strange thing is it works, but I get the error. That address is really not very high. What processor are you using?

Invalid SLC/Micro Address
Archie I had this issue in a previous version. I think you either gave me a fix for this or you fixed it.
If I recall correctly I was getting this error for addresses above "X" in the integer file. I am getting it now in a BIT file, B15/240 [B3:15/0] Perhaps you only fixed for integer files???

Open Discussion / SOFTWARE UPGRADES ADHMI & VISUAL BASIC
« on: December 29, 2022, 07:42:04 AM »
My PLC is an Allen Bradley 1785 L20E  (PLC 5/20 E) Only one I develop for now ..    I generally do not upgrade software unless there are compelling reasons to do so, - don't  fix what isn't broke ----

There are some non serious quirks in the version of ADHMI I use that the latest version has not resolved so I have not bothered to upgrade.  I am still running 399y BETA 33 because I have not seen a need to upgrade based on what changes have been made (nothing for PLC 5s or the actual HMI ) but I would like to know if there is some reason I should.  I notice there has been no upgrades to ADHMI for nearly 2 years now.  Archie is obviously very busy with his new business projects. Good for Him.

AND ...Although I have occasionally used the latest version of VB,  my development machine defaults to VB 2017.   I have not seen any fixes for the many quirks in 2017 when I use the latest version.

So... are there any critical or notable reasons to upgrade either of these besides the "Stay current mentality for security issues ? Are there any functions in the latest VB that would aid in the development of ADHMI?

Open Discussion / BREAK POINT NOT WORKING: OLD PROBLEM
« on: April 07, 2022, 08:10:56 AM »
Archie I found out that the BREAKPOINT not working is an old issue going back as far as 2015. I am surprised it is still an issue using VS 2022 and a new project.
I have followed all the steps to correct it but still no joy.  I will create a new project and start this all over again and see what happens.

I will let you know once I get the breakpoint to work.

Archie I must be doing something wrong - it is not stopping = I only have the chart and a datasubscriber to test the popup screen and two buttons on the main form to test the the two things you gave ,me..  and the test popup screen in the application.

Breakpoint seems to be ignored.  In case it matters I am still running 399y BETA 33. Haven't seen anything in latest releases that concerned anything I do.I am using Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2022 (64-bit) - Current
Version 17.1.3
I have pored over this and don't know what I could be missing, inserting a breakpoint seems pretty straight forward; I am running the app from the debugger so ???????????????????
Yes I feel stupid....   Never seen a program I couldn't break before.  That has to be a new one.

Took me a wee bit to figure out how to do that...
Property Value is set to  "As String".  See image in case I did not do something right.
