Basic Button MomentarySet Response Time
« on: October 27, 2017, 07:40:32 AM »
I use the BasicButton almost exclusively, mainly for cosmetic purposes.  Most of them are being used as a momentary button by setting OutputType to MomenarySet.  I also have the MinimumHoldTime set to 1.

Is there a trick to make the button more responsive for tasks, such as jogging servos?  Does the momentary button have any advantage that I do not see?

The response of the button is mostly dependent on the driver you use. For example, the EthernetIPforCLXCom will respond on an average of 5-10ms. But a serial driver may take up to 50ms. The speed of the PC also plays some factor.

How are you gauging the speed? If you are using highlight or another form of feedback that could be misleading. Even on a half second clx driver, I'm seeing almost immediate response. I'm using real world field devices as the judge. Even with immediate field device response, the highlight is lagging.
