Installaton
« on: April 25, 2016, 10:49:24 AM »
I have Visual Studio 2015. I can't figure out how to install the Advanced HMI software. I watched a video where it was being used out of Visual Studio. Anyone have info on the best way to install it?

- Download the AdvancedHMI package
- Unzip the file (I right click and select Extract files)
- Open Visual Studio
- File->Open
- Browse to the folder where you unzipped the files and select AdvancedHMI.sln

Ugh... did that, now get this

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Build.Utilities.Core, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest

I'm running windows 10 with Visual Studio 2015. The only download I can found has Beta in it. Could that be an issue?

That could be the problem.

Use the VS2013 Community Edition. VS2015 works, but it has an intermittent problem with the drivers sometimes not showing up in the Toolbox:

So v3.99 doesn't work with VS2012?  What version of AdvancedHMI should I use if I have VS2012 PRO?  I know I can download free version of VS2015 but I need the Pro edition of VS for features and use of TwinCAT.  What is entailed to upgrade VS to a newer version?  Would I require to purchase the full version of VS2015 from Microsoft or is there a lesser fee for an upgrade?

Thanks,
Don
