Labels Blinking/Flickering
« on: August 17, 2016, 05:37:24 PM »
I have seen some posts on this, but I am not sure if there ever was a solution.
I have been having blinking issues on my EthernetIPforPLC5Com driver. I am using just the standard AdvHMI Labels. It appears when I use more than 20, the blinking starts. I have double buffered turned on as well.

I am using Adv HMI V3.99h.

I was able to solve this by added a second driver and address my labels that blink to this.
Is that the correct solution or am I missing something?

Flickering controls was a random problem way back in some early versions, as far back as 3.20. No one was able to replicate on demand, so the root cause was never found. Since it went away on it own for such a long time, I assumed it was accidentally fixed in newer versions or was related to an older Windows operating system.

I can repeat the problem. I am looking at 23 counters in the PLC5 tied to Adv HMI basic labels. Whenever I go over '20' objects on the driver the labels begin to blink. The label does update with the counter even though it is blinking.
(I also have an Access database (stored on my local machine) tied to this project, not sure if that matters at all).

What operating system are you using? Try to see if changing PollRateOverride affects the flickering.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro and changing the poll rate has not affected anything. I was reading the post that Godra linked too, I will try a few of the those items.

Thanks to Godra, this topic mentions the problem:

http://advancedhmi.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=da5d0226a4afc5ebb371489a3adc4ac5&topic=377.0

I have 20 basic labels assigned to counters in the PLC5 controller (counter 0 thru 20), and when I add the 21 counter, that counter blinks. However, if I add an object that is assigned to something not within the "20" word range that basic label does not blink. I do not appear to be getting any exception errors, but I can stop the blinking by assigning another driver to those basic labels.

I was able to replicate this problem. It was only related to using more than 20 timers or counters with BasicLabels. This will be fixed in version 3.99r

The new version is now available that should fix this problem.
