Forum Entry Bug
« on: May 06, 2019, 05:08:05 PM »
I have been accessing this forum with the following bookmark:
http://advancedhmi.com/forum/index.php#c1

However lately, on more than one computer and with IE and Firefox, when I click on Support Questions I get a blank screen, not a 404 screen, that says the page can not be found. If I click on the latest thread reply I do go that thread, then can go back to all the categories in the forum. This also happens whether I am connected directly to the internet via WiFi or through the office firewall on the wired network.

Not Acceptable! Error
For me, I keep getting this error:

Not Acceptable!
An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.

It's happened on more than one laptop with Chrome browser.

It's not just you. When this happens I either change https to http or use incognito mode, I use chrome, but it happens on every browser.

It should work properly if the bookmark is edited and corrected to go to: http://advancedhmi.com/forum/

Just like the attached picture shows.

I think you are missing the big picture.  It's a known issue, Archie has known about it for weeks.  It doesn't always happen.  For me, it happens when I click on "View the most recent posts on the forum."  The big picture is not how to make it work, what about the new person that is interested in AHMI.  I would be turned off if the website isn't functional.  I highly recommend thinking about it from that angle.

FYI, my bookmark was changed to http://advancedhmi.com/forum, still did not work reliably.
Now changed to https , will see what happens.

Maybe try this (what my forum bookmark is currently set to): https://www.advancedhmi.com/forum/index.php

Some might consider using one of these as well:

   Main site: https://advancedhmi.com/
   Documentation: https://advancedhmi.com/documentation/index.php?title=Main_Page

There has been an ongoing issue with the forum and it seems to be related to the hosting provider. I have very little luck getting a resolution because the hosting provider wants me to show them the problem. Since it is intermittent to those who do see it and I have only ever seen it once, it makes it impossible to show them.

Did you switch the host provider recently?
I think the problem started after the new year and the mobile friendly update.

It's been the same host provider for quite a few years. I thought maybe it was related to the changes to the forum, but the one time I saw the problem, it was on another forum under a different domain and not using the same package, but on the same hosting provider.

How exactly do they want you to demonstrate the problem?  Screenshots?  I can recreate it every time at home.  If I can provide the necessary information to them, I will.

In Chrome, I can recreate it by just following the link from the 1st post, by AabeckControls, and clicking on Support Questions (or any other category).

This seems to be true only if I'm not logged in to the forum or if I log out, clear browsing data and access the forum page again.

The last time I talked to tech support, he said he needed to find in their logs. I am guessing the log is rather extensive, so he was looking for a fairly close time of it happening. Since it only happened once for me and would not happen again, I was unable to get him what he needed. It would take someone to repeatedly generate the error and provide the public IP address of their router.
