Does OmronEthernetFINSCom supports controllers NJ series?
« on: January 14, 2015, 03:36:38 AM »
I will start to work with Omron controller NJ501-1500. Does HNI component OmronEthernetFINSCom support it or it cannot be used? Is there any other way to communicate HMI - Omron PLC?

I do not see any mention of FINS support for the NJ501 controller. It mentions class 3 CIP messages over Ethernet/IP. If it uses symbolic addressing, there is a chance the EthernetIPforMicro800Com driver will work.

Based on some of the descriptions, it sounds like the controller may be based on CodeSYS software

I don't have anyway to test it to see what the protocol is. I would need to see a Wireshark capture

I see that Kepware has an OPC server for the NJ series. You can use the OPCdaCom driver with that.

If possible for you to get that working and do a Wireshark capture, then I could decipher the protocol and begin working on a native driver.

yes Archie, I made it work. I used SYSMAC Gateway Console as server and I read tag table to it (see on screenshot). And I attached Wireshark capture. Is this enough for you?

This is a good start. I will look at this later today to see what CIP services they are using. Thanks.

Not an easy solution. It's doing some kind of group read and I could not find any documentation on the protocol to be able to figure out all the details.

As I understand, you should be able to use FINS.
But, you will need to ensure that you have FINS style addressing setup/enabled in the NJ.

Note: I have not done this, just based on discussions.
I do have access to a NJ, but could be a week or 2 before I get a chance to test if you are struggling.

Thank you all for effort. I just got it to work with SYSMAC Gateway and CX-Compolet. They have really easy communication structure.

Hi !
I'm trying to use "Advanced HMI" with Omron NJ.
NJ supports Ethernhet Fins , (but you have to give fixed address to the variables , using for example  %D800  in Sysmac Studio).

My question is ... what I have to write in the "Plc address" property  of the objects ?
(D800 , %D800 ... something different ?)

And if I need just a bit (for example for a lamp) what I have to write ? (D800.00 or what ?)

Thanks in advance ...
amanita

I have never tested it with NJ series, but if the NJ supports FINS and the typical addressing of Omron, then you should be able to use addresses like D0
